Township Tour

Description

Visit District 6 in the Cape Malay quarter of the City and then proceed to Langa, South Africa's oldest township established in the 1920’s when the Urban Areas Act was passed, forcing blacks to live in locations. The name Langa means “Sun” in Xhosa, the language which is mostly spoken amongst black South Africans in The Western Cape.

The true highlight to this tour will be the hour long walk in the township where you will be able to interact with the incredibly strong people, who decided to take their future into their own hands. You will see how many people try to make a difference within their communities and that they contribute to a better future for the townships. You will also see how some people have lifted themselves from poverty and you will see how others are still trapped in poverty.

You will also experience the sangomas, traditional healers; smileys, shop at local market; drink sorgham beer, visit a local kindergarten, while supporting one of the poorest areas of the Mother City.

NB: ALL OUR TOURS OPERATE ON A MINIMUM OF 2 PEOPLE EXCEPT FOR PRIVATE TOURS. IF IT HAPPENS THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON BOOKED FOR A TOUR, THE TOUR MIGHT BE CONDUCTED BY ONE OF OUR PARTNER TOUR OPERATORS ON OUR BEHALF.

Our guide, James, for the Township tour was brilliant! 😊 I highly recommend this tour.

November, 2018

We booked 3 tours, all our guides were amazing and informative. The day was rushed due to booking staff miscommunicating pick up times and locations resulting in less time at certain places. We were also misinformed about the options such as Table Mountain, our driver could take us there at the end of our trip but couldn't give us a lift back due to wait times and another tour to begin for the afternoon. We distinctly requested a tour in order to go up the moutain when booking and so it was a surprise to hear from the guide that he couldnt wait for us in the end. All in all it seems like the booking staff have no idea about the locations or time constraints. It would certainly be an idea to get them to go on the tours in order to further explain the tours in detail. We felt as though it was just about booking and getting our money and then riding on the goodwill and informative guides to calm our patience.

Very good selection of cape town tours. The cape peninsula tour, winelands tour, and the township tour are great!
