Seal Snorkeling In Cape Town

Animal Ocean are the seal snorkeling experts and are dedicated to getting you in the water with these fantastic creatures.
Our enthusiastic owner and zoologist, Steve Benjamin, together with his team of marine guides, are only too keen to share the beauty of the ocean and its most playful mammals with you.

Our 8m Rib (inflatable boats) take up to 10 snorkelers and will get you to the seals quickly and safely. Fur seals are most active and abundant in the heat of Cape Town's summer.

Please contact us directly if you would like to book and do not have a Credit Card.

We provide all equipment including 5mm neoprene wetsuits with hood + 3mm neoprene vest, fins, masks and snorkels.

The activity includes transport from our offices to and from the harbour, a skipper and 2 seal snorkeling guides per boat, and an excursion and boat safety briefing.

On the boat we provide drinking water, biscuits and hot chocolate, as well as hot water to pour into your wetsuit to warm you up.

What's excluded

* Transfers
* Meals
* Underwater camera hire

Fitness level

Minimum age is 10 years old to snorkel and 6 years to view from the boat with a parent present.

I am pregnant - can I join?
You may join us if you are less than 6 months pregnant - please also chat to your doctor and provide us with a doctor's note certifying you fit for physical activity.

Are there weight limits?
This is a physically demanding activity, and may be unsuitable for some. We use ribbed inflatable vessels without ladders for this activity, which may make it difficult to get back into the boat. We cater up to size 3 XL wetsuits – if you unsure please send us an enquiry at the email listed on our contact page.

Skill level

Snorkelers need to be competent swimmers and comfortable in the water. The Atlantic ocean around Duiker Island is not always calm and we do snorkel in choppy conditions.
If you are a poor swimmer, this trip is unfortunately not for you.

* Swim suit
* Towel
* Sunscreen
* Camera
* Motion sickness tablets
* Rain jacket (If booking as Boat rider)

What to wear

Casual with swim wear under your clothes.
