Description

One of our more popular kelp forest sites is at Pyramid Rock where we have a good possibility of encountering the Sevengill shark, which is also called the Cow shark or Broadnose sevengill. The maximum depth is only 12 metres making it ideal for beginner and junior divers to join. The shallow depths and picturesque environment makes this is the ideal environment for photographers aiming to capture these sharks in their natural habitat.

The Cowsharks aggregate in the shallow channel between Pyramid Rock and the shore. If the sharks are present, there can be up to 30 sharks in the aggregation. Their curious and inquisitive nature means there is no baiting involved and we rely solely on a specific area where these animals are known to aggregate. Aside from the main attraction, the kelp forest is a beautiful environment to explore. There is an abundance of life in the kelp forest understory.

We do have times when the sharks are not present in the area – please enquire about recent sightings when booking to have realistic expectations. If the Cowsharks are not evident, then look out for the Spotted Gully sharks, which attain 1.7 metres in length. This is a timid shark more easily approached by freedivers than SCUBA divers. Then there are several species of catshark: the Pyjama catshark, Puffadder Shyshark, Leopard shyshark and Dark shyshark. These smaller sharks are between 50cm and 1.2 metres in length. The huge Short-tailed rays can occasionally be spotted. These rays grow up to 2 metres across the disk.

Cape Fur Seal Dive The Cape Fur Seal dive is a super fun and interactive dive and one of the signature dives that Cape Town has offered for more than two decades. The seals are very playful and love to show their acrobatic skills to divers.

These seals are used to divers and are not shy at all, they will often jump in the water in large numbers to come and investigate and play with divers. We dive at Partridge Point, an exposed haul-out spot for seals. There are times when the water can be rough at the site due to waves or currents. We will make a careful assessment before entering the water and reserve the right to divert the divers to a more protected site if conditions warrant it.

A shallow section of the reef, known as the amphitheatre, is the best spot to interact with the Seals. The deeper sections of the reef offer beautiful marine life, swim-throughs and large sea fans.

Really fantastic dive school with great staff who were incredibly enthusiastic about what they do. Knowledge regarding dives and marine life was on par and we cannot wait to book a second dive with this school.

Did a few dives with these guys and apart from the cold water and particularly bad weather on 1 dive, things were very good. Great staff, and the equipment used is very good.

Great experience. Very available and welcoming staff. Recent and well maintained gear. Idle times are not a problem thanks to the comfortable reception area eqipped with a bar. Logistics are simple, some walking is required but without the need to carry gear (for boat dives). Waters are freezing but sites are completely worth it. All boat operations were conducted very professionally and safely. Fair prices. Recommended!!

The staff was really nice and knew the area super well. Diving was easy but quite cold. Everything was absolutely incredible and the staff was very helpful with any and all difficulties I had. I would definitely dive with them again.

Not a good experience overall, no empathy for inconvenients.
I paid upfront for the package dive (seal and kelp), I went there on my own from Cape Town (from a 15 days trip around South Africa as my unique holidays; I am from Spain). must say my experience in diving is very irregular as i dive very seldom, so i usually ask many questions and expect a lot of help from staff and dive masters. When I arrived, there was not much help to advice on equipment (they gave my some super flexible fins which i ended up being super unstable and clumsy swimming with them under the sea, never tried this type before), the swimsuit hat was also not very comfortable and couldn't zip it up all the way to my upper neck. First dive was a nightmare, bad weather, lost my weights belt once on the surface of the water and after the dive I started to feel awfully sick. Seemed like I had dehydration and exhaustion, probably from previous food poisoning from days before of my trip, and even though i so much wanted to do the second dive, i felt sick, weak, frozen and unable to keep up, so i asked to return back to the dive center once we had a brief stop with the boat. One person of the staff came to pick me up. However when I asked for a part of a reimbursement of the amount of money that i paid (it takes me a couple full days of work to earn the money that the package costed), they totally refused to give back any money at all, even if i did not do the 2nd dive, which was really the opposite of trying to engage with clients (they probably knew I was not going to come back, living so far away, and did not care a damn whether I paid the full amount but did not do both dives). Also i did not receive any info of my first dive to note down on my divelog book, nor they offered me any treats or food to recover from my exhausted and poor health situation; so I grapped my things and drove back to my hotel in Cape Town to never return back there.

I wouldn't recommend this diving site, I've been in many different ones around the world, had my PADI certificate for almost 10 years and still I don't think this was the way to treat a diver client and help/deal with any problem that might come up unplanned.

Ok for soft-gear, opens early, had issues with hard-gear leaking at the gauge. Equipment could be in better condition. Check gear for leaks before leaving the shop.
