A good ride for those wanting more than just a walk. We take you over rolling hills, through the village and farm lands, to the edge of Africa on the cliff tops and finish with a thrilling canter down the long Morgan Bay beach.
Our horse paddocks are situated above the golf course at the Kei Mouth Country Club. This is the base from where we offer short day rides for local holiday makers and start overnight beach trails. We are perfectly positioned between Morgan Bay and Kei Mouth, and are a convenient day trip for guests staying at Trennerys Hotel or Seagulls Hotel across the Kei River.
You arrive at our horse yard where you are introduced to our team and horses, given a safety riding hat and asked to sign our indemnity and recreational release form. Once you are on your horse, we check your stirrups, saddle girth and ensure that you are comfortable and feel safe.
Along the trail there are many lovely opportunities to take photos. Our guides are happy to stop and do a "photo shoot" on the beach and get you some fabulous pictures of you on a horse on the beach on the edge of Africa!

NOVICE RIDER = someone who is comfortable in the saddle & enjoys a reliable well schooled horse. They generally ride at a riding school once or twice a month, or like to ride a friend’s horse on the farm. They can post to trot comfortably and enjoy a nice controlled canter.
INTERMEDIATE RIDER = someone who rides regularly and enjoys a forward going well schooled horse. They may or may not be a little nervous for the first little bit while they get to know their horse. They can control their horse independently and is confident trotting and in controlled canters.
ADVANCED RIDER = someone who is comfortable on most horses in most situations. They ride regularly and may or may not have their own horse. They have a good seat and gentle hands. They can ride in light seat, and can hold a strong horse in a fast canter.
Riders should arrive 15 min before the designated time. You will be required to sign a recreational release and indemnity form. All riders are required to wear a protective riding hat (we have available). The ride will go out as soon as everyone is mounted and the guides are happy that everyone is safe and comfortable.
The first part of the ride takes you over the hills towards Morgan Bay, and then drops down on to the beach. You then ride up through the village, and across farms lands meandering towards the cliff tops. Once on the cliffs the views are stunning and on a good day you can see for miles and do a bit of whale and dolphin spotting! Then you meander back down to the beach front of Morgan Bay, and on to the beach. Once past the main bathing area, you will get to canter on the edge of the ocean, there is no feeling quite like it!!
You now head back to the horse yard, this really is a super ride with a little bit of everything - good horses, great pace, awesome views and a super canter on the beach!

Wild Coast Horse Riding Adventures have been running incredible trails along one of the most diverse coastlines for the past 15 years. As a guide, I lead those trails for years and loved every second of it. The horses were too incredible for words - surefooted, responsive and reliable. All the saddles are Leon Liversage, making for a comfortable ride for both horse and human. If you haven't ridden the Wild Coast yet, it's time to put it on your bucket list.
Fantastic place, very well kept horses Awesome guides. Incredible views and just freaking wow beach Gallops
I was apprehensive about my centre-based and mini trail week when I found I was the only guest for half the week and the other half with a Frenchman, but it worked brilliantly; the staff made me feel part of the team. It was a really wonderful fun week. Stunning, untouched landscapes, miles of perfect beaches for fast riding, excellent, well loved horses and lovely staff. Highly recommended
Unsafe horses. Arabian horses. Only for very experienced riders. Take a good helmet and vest! Lovely area.
I really enjoyed doing the Wild Coast horse trails a few years back. It was a great experience and I would really love to do it again!
