Cultural Township Tour

Guests are asked to check in at the Ocean Blue Adventures Shop, which is located in the Milkwood Centre, Hopwood Street, Plettenberg Bay, approximately 15 minutes before the planned departure time. Here you will sign in for the tour and meet your guide, who is a resident of the Qolweni community you are about to visit. You will be given a bottle of water and snack for the tour. Guests will be accompanied by the guide in their own vehicle to a safe parking area adjacent to the township. From there you will walk to the Siyakhula crèche, meeting some of the locals along the way. At the crèche, you will be entertained by the kids with songs and a look at their school. Please note that the crèche is closed over the weekend and in school holidays, in which case the tour will focus on meeting the locals and learning about the history and culture of the area. At the end of the tour, you will return to Ocean Blue and bid farewell to your guide. Trip duration is 1 to 1.5 hours.


Itinerary

*Meeting point is at the Ocean Blue Adventures office situated in the Milkwood Centre, Hopwood street, 15 minutes prior to the departure time. * Guests meet at the Ocean Blue Shop, where they meet their guide (Guests are required to use their personal vehicles) and depart for the memory bridge (Bridge over the national road leading into Qolweni). * On crossing over the bridge we take a walk to the Siyakula Pre-school where the teachers welcome guests to the children. * Guests participate in a full tour of the school and end with the children in choir. *They will be taken to the spaza shop and shabeen before meeting the locals at their homes. * Afterwhich, guests will end the tour at the siyakhula nursery school before departing back to the Bridge.

Conditions

RESERVATIONS Full payment is required upon making an online reservation and prior to receiving confirmation; this does not apply to 30 day account holders whereby an agreement has been contracted.

If payment and proof thereof is not received, the reservation will be cancelled.

All requests for amendments to a reservation are required in writing by fax or electronic mail at least 7 days prior to the first activity date. Amendments may be approved subject to availability in the sole discretion of Ocean Blue Adventures Management.

INDEMNITY All passengers are required to sign an indemnity form for all transfers and activities they are participating in prior to departure of the activity. In case guest refuse to sign the indemnity form the guest will not be able to partake in the activity and will not receive any refund. The indemnity form must sign by a Parent/Legal guardian for children under 18 years. Any unaccompanied child under 18 requires the indemnity to be signed by a parent/legal guardian prior to the activity.

CHILDREN Children are classified as a passenger therefore children over 12 will be charged the full adult rate. Children 4 years and older will be charged full rate.

Township tours On a Township Tour – Ocean Blue will not take any responsibility for guests who enter Qolweni UN accompanied by a registered Ocean blue Guide. If on a bus tour and they decide not to participate in the tour they are asked to remain seated in the bus, if the guest want to get out and take photos we will not be held responsible for theft, damage to themselves or property.

GENERAL Management reserves the right to amend/cancel/add terms & conditions without notice. All terms & conditions are subject to South African Law & Jurisdiction

Cancellation policy

CANCELLATIONS A 100% cancellation fee will apply in the event of a no show by guest on the activity date. In the event of an amendment not received 7 days prior to activity booked the guest will still be responsible for the full cost for the total number of passengers originally confirmed.

Management reserves the right to cancel any activity due to unforeseen circumstances including but not limited to, lack passengers, or weather conditions. In case of a weather cancellation, weather conditions are judged exclusively by Ocean Blue Adventures Management, guests must report for the service/activity unless notified by Ocean Blue Adventures Management. In the event of a cancellation by Ocean Blue Adventures Management, a full refund will be given on the amount paid less 2.5% bank charges (or refunded to booking agent)
