Description

Experience a Culture Tour conducted in the magnificent Garden Route town of Plettenberg Bay.

Itinerary

Guests are asked to check in at the Ocean Blue Adventures Shop, which is located in the Milkwood Centre, Hopwood Street, Plettenberg Bay, approximately 15 minutes before the planned departure time.

Here you will sign in for the tour and meet your guide, who is a resident of the Qolweni community you are about to visit. Guests will be accompanied by the guide in their own vehicle to a safe parking area adjacent to the township.

From there you will walk to the Siyakhula crèche, meeting some of the locals along the way. At the crèche, you will be entertained by the kids with songs and a look at their school. Please note that the crèche is closed over the weekend and in school holidays, in which case the tour will focus on meeting the locals and learning about the history and culture of the area.

At the end of the tour, you will return to Ocean Blue and bid farewell to your guide. Trip duration is 1 to 1.5 hours.

January, 2020

We enjoyed our boat trip of a couple of hours out in Plettenburg Bay. This was in early November 2019 near the end of the whale watching season & unfortunately did not spot any whales. On this particular day the sea was fairly choppy & quite a few people were sea sick mostly those sitting near the front of the vessel. They were the ones who also got pretty wet as the boat crashed through the swell. Everyone is given a waterproof cape, life jacket & have a safety briefing before boarding. all very professional.
We had a guide on board who was looking for whales & other marine creatures along with the helmsman. The commentary was limited & could have been more in depth. We did see lots of Cape Fur seals, a fleeting glimpse of a dolphin & a few Shearwaters. The boat is launched from the beach & lands back on the beach at high speed. Be prepared to get wet & cold perhaps see very little but enjoy the thrill of the ride!
